Food Services Overview
Saint Francis Indian School offers USDA supported meals to all students. The school qualifies for reimbursement costs for student breakfast and lunch meals under the Community Eligibility Program (CEP). Using State of South Dakota funding and school funds, SFIS offers free meals to all enrolled students.
The school also participates in the Fresh Fruits and Vegetables Program at the Elementary grade levels. This program offers snacks of fresh fruits and vegetables to all students, grades K to 5, either at about mid-morning or mid-afternoon.
Guidance for school nutrition activities and education is contained in our Wellness Policy. Parents, students, school staff and community organizations are welcome to attend open meetings. Meetings will be advertised. Health is important especially to our students, public input is necessary and welcome.
