About the Film: The Seventh Generation's Promise

Set against the sweeping, sacred landscapes of the Great Plains, The Seventh Generation’s Promise bears witness to a land in peril. The film exposes the stark reality of how unchecked human activity and global industrialization are reshaping the climate of the Lakota homelands.

Through intimate storytelling and breathtaking cinematography, we follow a Lakota child (played by 3rd grader Jeffrey Running) as he confronts extreme heat and cold temperatures in his ancestral grounds. Guided by the powerful narration of Dera Iyotte, this is more than a documentary about environmental shifts; it is a poignant narrative of resilience, highlighting the struggle to protect a cultural identity inextricably tied to the earth, and the fight to honor a sacred obligation to those who are yet to be born.

Please join us in congratulating Althea, Damian, Maria Aleja Kate, Jeffrey, Dera, and Mr. Salimbao on this groundbreaking accomplishment. Together, they have proven that you are never too young to make a profound impact and honor the promise of the Seventh Generation. We cannot wait to see where their talents take them next!
